Care designed to provide quality support and comfort for people living with life-limiting conditions. The manager and staff gave us a warm welcome and they were enthusiastic to be part of the inspection. The majority of staff had worked in the home for a long time and were knowledgeable about people and their needs which meant that people could expect consistency of care. Everyone we spoke with shared their positive experiences about living in the home and the care they received. We spent time in various parts of the home, including communal areas and individual bedrooms so that we could observe the direct care, attention and support that people were receiving.
If this service has not had a CQC inspection since it registered with us, our judgement may be based on our assessment of declarations and evidence supplied by the service. We reviewed the information and data available to us about Glebe House on 8 December 2022. We have not found evidence that we need to reassess the rating at this stage.

Maximising the residents’ quality of life is central to this approach. We promote and strive to provide the highest possible standards of care, accommodation and facilities to our residents and their families in our care centres. We assist our residents in achieving the best quality of life possible by providing an environment that facilitates living and dying with dignity.
Visions and plans for the future were understood and shared across the staff team. They embraced new initiatives with the support of the registered manager and colleagues. They continued to look at the needs of people who used the service and ways to improve these so that people felt able to make positive changes. Services
People were spending time in the lounges reading papers, talking with friends or taking part in activities. Some people were enjoying the day in the privacy of their own rooms and receiving visitors. The registered manager listened to people and staff to ensure there were enough staff to meet people's needs.

The lounges are warm and bright too, affording panoramic views over the newly landscaped grounds, the Severn Estuary and beyond. We also overlook the local church, and the popular Bowl Inn is within easy reach. We aim to provide the highest standard of living at each of our homes. Our one purpose is to provide the comfort and support you need to enjoy a happy and fulfilled life. Staff had the knowledge and skills they needed to carry out their roles effectively. They enjoyed attending training sessions and sharing what they had learnt with colleagues. There was an emphasis on teamwork and unison amongst staff at all levels. We were introduced to people throughout our visits and they welcomed us. This inspection took place on 13 and 17 October 2016 and was unannounced. There were no concerns at the last inspection in November 2013. Glebe House is registered to provide accommodation and nursing care for up to 48 people. A unit in the home called The Orchard provides care for those people who have a diagnosis of dementia. At the time of our visit there were 43 people living at the service.
We think it’s important you have detailed, comprehensive information so that you can decide which care providers to shortlist. We have now been able to restore most freedom of movement in our homes, including admitting visitors, increased activity sessions in the homes, and offsite trips for our residents. We maintain strict infection control procedures, at least in line with government and local guidance, and where appropriate extra measures are in place. Glebe House Nursing Home provides accommodation for a maximum of 54 residents. There are two bedroom types available – thirty eight single rooms and five rooms with two people sharing.
There was a strong sense of empowering people wherever possible and providing facilities where independence would be encouraged and celebrated.
